Title: Marketing Manager
Department: Sales & Marketing

Job Purpose: The primary function of the Marketing Manager is to lead Nanophase’s marketing and business development activity for our Nanomaterials that will drive profitable revenue growth. This includes identifying, analyzing and prioritizing applications within our markets and helping to develop products that will deliver superior value to our customers. The Marketing Manager reports to the Vice-President, Sales and Marketing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform in-depth market and customer analysis to identify and define opportunities that have a strong value proposition for the use of Nano metal oxides and put tactical plans in place to attack applications of interest
• Work closely with sales and R&D to define, develop and test products that will meet customers unmet needs in the markets and applications that will be served by the Company
• Lead and improve Company stage-gate process
• Develop marketing strategy in support of Company strategy
• Define the marketing mix needed to succeed in markets (product/solutions requirements, competitive differentiation, communications and pricing)
• Identify and present development programs that include a critical path and milestones for the key Nanophase functions
• Become a key liaison between potential lead customers and key departmental functions of Nanophase in identified markets
• Manage company marketing activities (shows, website, marketing materials)
• Travel approximately 30%
Knowledge and Skills
• Minimum of five years of business experience, ideally in strategic marketing, business development or product development in advanced materials field
• Preferred experience in one (or more) of these areas:
o Stage-gate process
o Additives that impart UV protection, scratch resistance or IR attenuation
o Metal oxides
o Developing new business in Personal Care, Coatings, Electronics or Energy markets
• Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner; highly proficient in PowerPoint presentations
• Technical background in chemistry, engineering or materials science with marketing / business background preferred
• An entrepreneurial spirit
• Experience both large and small company environments preferred
• Good communication interpersonal skills
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus
• Experience in chemical industry, minimum 5-7 years
Salary:
• Commensurate with experience
